    Underwater Robotics

    Students will experience authentic engineering through the SeaPerch program. Teachers deliver standards and process skills through a STEM lens with a robotics platform. This inquiry-based program will support our goal of building a pipeline for STEM careers and align with our K-5 robotics program.

    Grant Title: Alternative Energy Cross-Curricular Unit

    Location: River Eves Elementary

    This unit is designed to give 5th graders insight into how engineers in a real-world setting use data to make informed decisions. A secondary goal is to give our students exposure to alternative energy and its potential uses within our community. In this 18 week problem-based unit, all 5th Grade content area teachers will devote time to: research, writing, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and using technology to record and convey information. This unit culminates with our students building a model of an alternative energy concept with a variety of options: solar panels, solar pumps, wind powered generators and a variety of maker- space supplies.

    Grant Title: SMArTE Space

    Location: Clark Creek Elementary STEM Academy

    The SMArTE (science, math, art, technology, and engineering) Space project helps to support science and technology standards. SMArTE space in the media center provides opportunities for students to use creativity and inventive thinking to build prototypes, explore questions, experience failure and successes, and bounce ideas off each other. The media center acts as a center gathering place for all grade levels giving K-5 students opportunity to explore the design process. Different tasks will be created as a result of collaboration with the classroom teachers to align them with the core curriculum and the curriculum map. The SMArTE space also provides an opportunity to enrich students that have mastered classroom assignments. Projects made by typical Makerspaces utilize common tools and supplies in new ways and uncommon ones to build surprising new things.

    Grant Title: “Move, Play, Learn, Grow!

    Location: Lovin Elementary School,

    “Move, Play, Learn, Grow!” is a proposed plan in which our special education population can enjoy a multi-sensory learning experience. The project involves the use of an interactive, motion-censored projection screen. The interactive screen is a learning tool that would engage all seven types of Gardners’ Multiple Intelligence learners.
