INVITATION FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIR

Keys to Continuous Improvement . . .

November 5-7, 2008, the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), will host the 21st annual Georgia Educational Technology Conference (GaETC) at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.

This year’s theme, Keys to Continuous Improvement, underscores our commitment to providing a conference that advances school improvement through the effective use of technology. It is our mission to accelerate effective teaching, learning, and leadership practices through conference sessions, workshops, exhibits, and collaborations that focus on how technology can support school improvement in Georgia.

This year GaETC will host a Technology Leadership Forum on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. The purpose of this forum is to provide an opportunity for technology leaders across the state to collaborate and share the successes and challenges facing their schools and districts. By starting on Tuesday, November 4, technology leaders have a unique opportunity to network in a smaller forum and attend sessions customized specifically to meet their needs. The exhibit hall will open on Tuesday, November 4, at 5:00 pm to give technology leaders the chance to research needed products while face-to-face with company representatives who are ready to meet with them, answer questions, provide demonstrations, and help them find solutions tailored specifically to their schools and districts. The intended audience includes all technology leaders, such as Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Chief Technology Officers (CTOs), Technology Directors, Technology Coordinators, Technology Specialists, Network Specialists, Student Information Systems Specialists, and Financial Application Specialists.

GaETC 2008 boasts more than 250 presentations, ranging from nationally prominent speakers to concurrent sessions and workshops targeted toward technology leaders who must build a strong technology infrastructure and educators who must implement technology effectively in their daily professional practice. The exhibit hall at GaETC includes over 200 vendors displaying the most current hardware and software available in educational technology.

Join over 2,500 teachers, technology leaders, library media specialists, teacher educators, administrators, policy makers, industry representatives, and students in exploring new ways technology can enable teaching, learning, and leadership. Experience high-quality professional learning equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve schools and increase student achievement.

Mark your calendars, secure funding, and plan now for the 21st annual Georgia Educational Technology Conference.

See you in Atlanta!
