This session will demonstrate how Activclassroom technology may be used to
integrate reading and math in elementary classrooms. Effective use of
literature to introduce and reinforce math concepts is made easy with
Activboard manipulative flipchart lessons. This interactive session will
show participants how to address multiple Georgia Performance Standards in
cross-curricular lessons. Extensions of the lessons occur on individual
student computers in project-based activities. Using these teaching
strategies will differentiate instruction in the classroom and engage the
interest of the elementary learner. Session attendees will have the
opportunity to use Activotes, Activslate and manipulate flipcharts. They
will also receive a guide to resources and ideas for lessons to incorporate
technology with the reading and math performance standards.

We have all heard the phrase "using assessment to inform instruction," but
unfortunately, most teachers are not equipped with the tools or the time to
be provided with concise immediate feedback on what is working effectively
in their classrooms and what is not. We will share ways for teachers to
integrate the use of a proven data management system with corresponding
instructional programs to meet the needs of the struggling math and reading
students who are found in every school. These methods haven been proven to
move students back up to grade level effectively and efficiently.

Scratch

Scratch is a
tile-based visual programming language for multimedia projects and games
created by the MIT learning lab. Participants will receive a copy of this
free software to install and learn the basics of teaching computer
programming concepts to elementary students. The presenter will lead
participants in creating simple games that employ sound, graphics, and
interaction between objects. Through creating games, students learn how to
translate elements of story, character, setting, and action into
mathematical expressions and programming logic. In addition, participants
will examine the Scratch website and view galleries and samples of other
student projects.

to contribute a bookmark or image you consistently use in your curriculum
with other educators through the GeorgiaStandards.Org portal. This session
will be recruiting teachers who will want to partake in a pilot project that
will combine the learning environment of Moodle and GeorgiaStandards.Org
resources.

School is helping Georgia schools offer students a variety of rich learning
opportunities through its blended learning model.

There are 13 Educational Technology Training Centers (ETTCs) strategically
placed throughout the state of Georgia. This presentation will explore how
the local ETTC can help you as a teacher and administrator. The purpose of
the ETTCs is to provide professional learning, consulting, and service to
the Georgia educators and to promote the appropriate use of technology in
support of teaching, learning, and leadership. Directors of several of the
ETTCs will highlight examples of support in the areas of technical,
instructional, and student participation projects supported throughout the
state. Additionally, the relationship between the GaDOE and ETTCs will be
explained and how the ETTCs work with both the GaDOE and the local systems
throughout the state.
