It is a sign of our times that such an awkward term as "blogging" should integrate itself so quickly and so powerfully
into our culture. This session will acquaint educators with the concept of weblogs (blogs), ways that they are
affecting many aspects of our culture, and strategies for using weblogs to promote better teaching and learning.
Participants will also learn how to provide a safe and secure blogging experience for students.

Wireless technology is becoming simple, cheap, and easy to install. Wireless technology offers tremendous flexibility
in locating computing devices where learning occurs - indoors or out. This session will describe and demonstrate
current wireless technologies and how to properly install them. Wireless technologies of the near future, including
802.11N and WiMax will also be covered. Go wireless the right way!

Until very recently, there were two ways to edit and create high-quality videos: Get a Mac or plunk down a mortgage
payment for a high-end PC-based video editing program like Sony Vegas, Avid XPress Studio HD, or Adobe Premiere
Pro. Not any more. You and your students can now shoot and edit video like a professional with an up-to-date
FireWire-enabled PC, an inexpensive digital video camera, and Adobe’s $70 Premiere Elements.

Participants will learn how to capture screen recordings from any piece of software, turn the recordings into tutorials

Session:  29   Title:  Integration of GIS in a High School World Geography

This presentation will describe how a Geographic Information System (GIS) software program was integrated into
the teaching and learning of spatial concepts and skills in a world geography classroom. Descriptions of how map
scale, map projections, principles of cartography, and geographic data collection and presentation were taught and
how student learning was assessed will be included. Issues of GIS implementation, including the involvement of
school technology personnel, use of school technology resources, and management of a typical classroom using a
limited number of computers will be discussed.

Using Microsoft Office with elementary students can be a challenge, especially with primary students. Creating your
own toolbars and setting preferences can help, but using the Scholastic Keys interface makes it a snap. You will see
how MaxWrite uses Word with a friendly interface, MaxShow uses PowerPoint, and MaxCount uses Excel.

This session will give a brief overview of the R.E.A.L. Classrooms course. Upon completion of R.E.A.L. Classrooms
(Research-Based, Engaged, Authentic, Learner-Centered), participants will be able to identify, interpret, and apply
NCREL's 26 Indicators of Engaged Learning in classroom instruction, identify and create authentic assessments that
provide acceptable evidence of student understanding, and develop units of study including authentic learning
experiences that incorporate Georgia Performance Standards and 21st century skills.

coordinate discussions on topics of interest to the audience.


Session:  33   Title:  DIBEL'n on a Handheld Computer: Real-Time Data For Timely Intervention

The session will demonstrate how to administer the DIBELS using a handheld computer. By eliminating the need for
stopwatches, manuals, and scoring sheets, handheld-to-Web software delivers data easily, quickly and with support
for intervention. In-depth Web reports are available immediately and allow educators to clearly diagnose school,
classroom, and student-level skill gaps. Educators will learn how to monitor student progress with the DIBELS and
apply targeted intervention strategies to help their students read at benchmark.

Session:  36   Title: Using the Loti Observer with Palms to Conduct Technology Integration Walk-Throughs

This session will enable participants to learn about the steps for using Palms to conduct technology walk-throughs based on the LoTi (Levels of Technology Implementation) Framework. Specifically, participants will download the LoTi Observer application, conduct sample walk-throughs of elementary and secondary classrooms, and create individual walk-through reports using the Observer application. A great application for those yearning to move to a higher level of technology implementation at their campuses.


Session:  37   Title:  Testing Accommodations: From Quizzes to High-Stakes

This presentation will demonstrate how students with reading challenges can test independently, with significantly
less intervention than classic accommodations, and experience greater success with testing. Using TESTTALKER as
an accommodation to read tests aloud, students can practice and take tests using everything from teacher-created to
high-stakes testing. Participants will learn how to prepare a quiz in Word or a printed/electronic test, including how to
insert answer fields/bubbles for all test formats (optional).
