using Internet sites. This workshop will provide participants with examples and
information to use this tool in their classrooms. Participants will create a
“track” during the workshop that they can use in their educational settings. The
site for building “tracks” is provided by High Plains Regional Technology in
Education Consortium (HPRTEC.org). In addition, participants will use this site
to build online quizzes for their Tracks using QuizStar and produce rubrics for
class projects using RubiStar. Participants will leave this workshop with a
completed track, a TrackStar template, instructional handouts, as well as the
knowledge to produce technology-connected lessons to enhance their curriculum at

Effective educators and administrators know how to use technology to reduce time
spent gathering, collating, and processing paperwork. Instead of printing out
costly paper-based forms and surveys, many progressive teachers and principals
use online forms to collect and sort important data as well as to generate
complex reports. This session will teach participants the basics of using
Microsoft FrontPage to make Internet forms designed to minimize loss of time and
money. Although everyone is invited, participants with experience using
Front Page will benefit the most from this training.

W15. PowerPoint-It’s Not JUST for Presentations Anymore
Instructor: H. Evans, Cobb County Schools
Wednesday 2/11 1:00 PM

PowerPoint is a wonderful tool for creating presentations—but that's NOT ALL it
can do! Using the Action Button feature allows preschool and elementary teachers
the flexibility to design INTERACTIVE, self-correcting lessons/practice
opportunities that children can work through in small groups or individually for
additional rehearsal. These lessons can work wonderfully as a center!. Teachers
can use PowerPoint in this way to create lessons in any subject area—language
arts, math, science, social studies—you name it! Participants are urged to come
to the workshop with a topic idea for creating what we hope will be just the
first of many terrific PowerPoint lessons to come.
W16. KidPix QCC Connection
Instructor: W. Marshall, Armstrong Atlantic State University ETTC
Wednesday 2/11 1:00 PM
– 4:00 PM
Cost: $55 with conference registration, $75 without
Seats: 20 Room: K109
This workshop is designed to enable participants to effectively utilize Kid Pix

children. Attendees will explore all of the tools, templates, palettes, and
menus through activities designed specifically to get them actively involved in
mastering the many options of this program. Participants will create a
multimedia presentation using the slideshow feature and storyboarding
techniques. Workshop attendees will use the Kid Pix Activity Kits. Designed for
K-5 students, these kits have 24 different thematic topics and include resources
such as samples of students' projects, websites, and lesson plans. Participants
will work in teams to design lesson plans that incorporate Georgia QCCs and will
submit them to GLC through the Lesson Plan Builder.
