FEATURED PRESENTER

From the age of 12 (watching a computer play tic-tac-toe) to the present, Jennifer Wagner has always been fascinated with technology.  She remembers 5 ½ floppies, putting the phone onto the modem, being thrilled when she saw an amber screen, and when 4 MB of memory seemed like MORE than enough.

Eight years ago, Jennifer took her casual interest in computers into a full time position and became the first Technology Coordinator at Crossroads Christian School in Corona, California.  Since then, the lab has doubled in size, and each classroom is equipped with computers, printers, and  scanners.  She decided that the school needed a website five years ago, so she developed and maintained the school website for the school and preschool.

In 1999, Jennifer was looking for an interesting way to collect data for a science fair project and posted her question to the EdTech newsgroup board, and the Oreo Online Project was born.  The Oreo Project is now in its fifth year and TechnoSpud.com (Jen’s company) hosts six online projects during each year. She has been a top finalist in the Global SchoolNet Foundation Teacher Award in 2002 and 2003 for her online projects and effective uses in teacher telecollaboration.  Her TechnoSpud website also has a monthly newsletter with Great Links, Software Reviews, and a 30-Minute Technology Tip for teachers to print out and use immediately in their classroom or lab.

Jennifer graduated from Pacific Christian College in 1992.  Though self-taught in many software programs, Jennifer continues to take any technology course she has time for.  Jennifer was a tutor on AOL for several years, AACTchJen, in the Homework Help Area.  She also teaches online at LVS Online in all Office programs.  However, one of her favorite activities is traveling the US providing enthusiastic seminars and leaving teachers excited with ideas on how to use their computers immediately in their classrooms.

And in her spare time, Jennifer designs websites for teachers, schools, churches, and small businesses.  But – yes, there is life away from the computer.  She enjoys reading, writing, the theatre, the oceans, the mountains, and just sitting at home enjoying the company of her pets – a cockatiel called PC and a kitten named Mac.
