The Georgia Educational Technology Consortium
recently announced a departure from the April or February dates for the
conference. For the school year 2004-2005, the conference will be held
November 10-12, 2004. Because it will be the second GaETC conference
during this calendar year, it will be called
Fall Conference 2004. |

The GaETC Conference is dedicated to the professional development of educators.
For the past sixteen years, this conference has played a key role in helping
educators at all levels increase their understanding of the role of technology
in education. The GaETC Conference provides educators the opportunity to
learn about the latest in educational technology and offers a forum for
discussion among professionals concerned with technology in education. The
conference offers approximately 200 concurrent sessions, nationally known
speakers and presenters, conference workshops focusing on the latest in
technological innovations and software, and over 200 commercial exhibits
featuring state-of-the-art technology.
The Board of Directors of the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium is the
governing unit for this conference, an electronic journal, and a technology fair
for students. The conference is organized by a Steering Committee, which is
appointed by the Board. The Board, the Steering Committee, and the various subcommittees
are composed of unpaid volunteers. The Board contracts with McRae
& Co. of Tallahassee to handle conference registration and the vendors.
The GaETC Conference is open to any
individuals interested in educational technology. There is no typical
organizational structure, no membership dues, and no membership list. Those who
have attended a recent conference or who have filled out our online form requesting information will receive the preliminary program, which contains the
workshop descriptions and a registration form, through the mail. The
descriptions and the registration form will also be available on this website.
The
GaETC Conference was first held in 1989 at the Ironworks Convention and Trade Center in Columbus.
After a few years, it moved to the Macon Centreplex Trade and Convention
Center. In 2001, the
conference moved to the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center for two years and then
returned to Macon. |

The
Board has appointed Vicki Rogers, Director of Macon State College ETTC, as
conference chair.
Dr. Traci Reddish, Co-Director of
Kennesaw State University ETTC, is the associate chair.
Jim Hardin, of Hardin Systems in Statesboro, is the
Logistics Chair.
Ray
Jordan, the chair of the GaETC Conferences in 2003 and 2004, was recently
appointed superintendent of the Turner County School District. As a result of
his new job responsibilities, Ray has announced his resignation as conference
chair. He will continue to serve on the Board of Directors and will be chair of
the committee working with conference sponsors. |
