Instructor: W. McKenzie, Arlington, VA Public Schools
Tuesday      2/18      1:00 - 4:00
Cost $55      Seats: 25     Room: K109
Schools across the nation have invested millions of dollars in instructional technology and the promise that came with it. Yet after more than a decade of putting IT infrastructure in place the promise still goes largely unrealized. Perhaps the problem is not inherent in the technologies themselves but in the ways they have been implemented in instruction. Using Gardner’s multiple intelligence’s theory, Walter McKenzie offers a sound instructional foundation for the selection, planning and implementation of instructional technology as part of a total school program that is built for success.  Special features of this presentation include several different multiple intelligence inventories to help students identify their MI profiles, specific lesson, unit and project templates for integrating MI and technology into instruction, recommendations for software and hardware purchases that can help maximize student learning, exploration of Internet technologies that support each of the intelligences, and a frank discussion of technology and assessment of student achievement. Based on McKenzie’s book “Multiple Intelligences and Instructional technology: A Manual for the Mind” (ISTE 2002), this presentation is appropriate for teachers, technology coordinators and administrators
