But how do they work? Are they as "perfect" as we have been led to believe? How have students bypassed them in the past? This session takes you into the deep underworld of Internet filters. Session 259 Title: Let’s Get Digital: Creating and Working with Digital Images Presenter(s): Christopher Curchy, Keith Kyker Room: Ballroom C Strand: Featured Speaker Are you interested in the latest still digital cameras, but a little confused by terms like JPEGs and Bitmaps and GIFs (oh my)? It sounds like you need to "Get Digital." In this workshop, you’ll learn about digital image formats and how to select the best digital camera for the situation. You’ll also learn how to insert those images into popular applications. Need information on how to start? Can your district support it? Consider the benefits of online learning for your students. eHigh School, an online initiative of the Cobb County School District, offers students flexibility with scheduling by offering online courses that can be taken anytime, any place, and at any pace. Session 263 Title: What Can LoTi Do for Me? Presenter(s): Jo Williamson Room: 309 Strand: DOE Through a contract with the National Business in Education Alliance, the Georgia DOE has made the Level of Technology Use Implementation (LoTI) surveys available to all school systems in Georgia at no cost and subsidized local reports so that school systems pay only $150/per report through August 2003. But, what will this data tell us? What kinds of reports are available? How can the data be used locally to move districts to higher LoTI levels? These are the questions that will be addressed in this interactive workshop that will feature videos of various LoTI levels and examples of how Georgia school districts have used the data. Those needing a deeper understanding of the LoTI framework developed by Dr. Christopher Moersch and wanting to maximize the use of the LoTI tools should attend.
