used the technologies of computers and telecommunications to spawn a truly
global economy has transformed the nature of work, both for today and especially
for the future. For our young people to thrive once they leave school,
they must develop the skills needed in the workplace -- skills that are
different from those needed just a generation ago. Based on extensive
research conducted by the presenter -- a premier futurist in the field
of educational technology, this presentation highlights the technical and
soft skills needed for the world of work in the coming years, and explores
the steps schools need to take to insure that every learner leaves school
